Information for parents
Big Paws is a virtual pet game that children can play too. We built the following protections for your child's safety and privacy.
Age question
On first launch the game asks for birth month and year with a neutral question (nothing preselected). This stays only on the phone and is never sent to us. The game only uses the age group (under 13, 13–17, 18+).
For children under 13
- Parental consent: before play, the phone is handed to a parent; after a simple parental check, the parent reads the information and gives consent. The consent is recorded on the phone with the date and text version.
- No Google sign-in; no email address or real name is requested from the child.
- No communication between players: no chat, messages, friend lists, sharing or user-generated content.
- Ads: requests to Google AdMob are tagged as child-directed; ads are not personalised and only G-rated ads are shown. Rewarded ads are optional.
- Parental gate: links that leave the app (web pages, email) and changes to privacy choices require the parental check.
- Cloud backup and crash reports start switched off and can only be turned on by a parent.
- There are no in-app purchases.
- No location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone permissions.
What is processed?
Your child's game save (pets, progress), player name (can be a nickname) and avatar are kept on the phone. If you allow cloud backup, these and a random guest account ID are stored on Google Firebase servers in Germany. Google AdMob processes device information to show ads and prevent fraud. Your rights as a parent
- Review what is processed about your child and request correction;
- Request deletion: Settings › Account › Delete my data deletes everything immediately;
- Withdraw consent: in Settings › Privacy & data (behind the parental gate) you can turn off cloud backup and crash reports or show the consent screen again; uninstalling the app also removes all consents and data on the phone.
